RATA Security → Projects → Shamshiri Restaurant
Toronto
Shamshiri Restaurant’s Thornhill location, 8199 Yonge St, Thornhill, ON L4J 1W5, brought RATA Security in for two separate projects: putting its live camera feed on screens staff actually look at, and building out the audio and video system for its new covered patio. Here is how both went.
PROJECT OVERVIEW

A camera system nobody looks at until something goes wrong is only doing half its job. Shamshiri Restaurant already runs an IP-based camera system at its Thornhill location, tied into a shared multi-branch monitoring setup that lets one screen show live footage and a branch identifier overlay from any connected location. What the restaurant did not have was a way to put that feed somewhere staff would actually see it during a shift, instead of buried in an app nobody opens until there is a problem.
RATA Security installed two separate wall-mounted displays inside the restaurant, each tied directly into the existing camera system. The work followed the same standard we use on every job:
Most businesses treat their camera feed as something to check only after an incident. Putting the live view on a screen staff can see throughout the day changes that relationship entirely. At Shamshiri, the same display monitoring the entrance and parking area also carries the restaurant’s own promotions, so the feed reads as part of the room rather than a screen announcing that customers are being watched. That is the difference between a security camera system that sits in a closet and one that the business actually uses every day.
A covered patio lives or dies on the details people notice without thinking about them. Shamshiri built a new outdoor patio at its Thornhill location with an exposed wood beam ceiling and linear LED accent lighting, exactly the kind of finished space where bolted-on hardware ruins the effect in seconds. RATA Security was brought in to add a large-format display and a matching speaker system without undoing any of that design work.
The job was less about running cable and more about protecting the architecture already in place:
The hardest part of this job was not the wiring, it was matching the install to a space someone had already designed carefully. Conduit painted to match the trim and a speaker housing that blends into the ceiling line is what separates a patio that looks finished from one that looks like security or AV equipment got bolted on afterward. The same principle holds for camera housings, NVR cabinets, or access control hardware in any space where the owner cares about how the room looks, not only whether the system works. Building a control station into the existing cabinetry mattered just as much, switching what plays on a slow Tuesday versus a busy Friday night is a few keystrokes for staff, not a ladder and a call to RATA.
